Free Invoice Generator

Fill in the work, and this builds a clean, professional invoice you can download and send today. It does the arithmetic — line totals, subtotal, tax, the amount due — so a transposed figure never goes out with your name on it. Nothing is saved to our servers.

Whatever rate you enter is applied to the subtotal. Which rate is correct depends on where you and your client are — that one is for your accountant.

Frequently asked
What has to be on a freelance invoice?
Your name and contact details, the client's, a unique invoice number, the date you issued it, the payment due date, an itemised list of what you're billing for, any tax, and the total due. Add your payment details or a payment link so the client does not have to ask how to pay you.
What should my invoice payment terms be?
Net 14 or net 30 are the common defaults, meaning payment is due 14 or 30 days after the invoice date. Shorter terms get you paid sooner but can strain a client with their own approval process. Whatever you choose, put it in the contract before the first invoice rather than negotiating it afterwards.
Do I need to charge tax on a freelance invoice?
It depends on where you and your client are, what you sell, and whether you are registered. Sales tax, VAT and GST all have different thresholds and rules. This generator takes whatever rate you enter and applies it — deciding the correct rate is between you and your accountant.
How do I number my invoices?
Sequentially, with no gaps, so your records are auditable — INV-001, INV-002, and so on. A prefix per client or per year is fine as long as the sequence is consistent. Reusing or skipping numbers is the kind of thing that makes a tax enquiry longer than it needs to be.
Is my invoice data saved anywhere?
Not on our servers. Everything you type stays in your browser — we never receive it, and there is nothing on our side to delete afterwards. Your draft is kept in this browser so a refresh does not lose it; "Start over" clears it, as does clearing your browsing data.

Stop rebuilding the same invoice.

Frelo remembers your clients and rates, builds invoices from tracked hours, sends them with a payment link, and chases the ones that go unpaid — so this is the last time you fill a form like this in by hand.
